It’s Not Over Until Singapore Sings…

Standard

One week ago, I was in Singapore. I’d had this sense, already brewing for a few months, that I was meant to facilitate creative arts workshops – within the corporate sphere – in that city (-state). It wasn’t anything I was pursuing actively (yet), but I meant to discuss it with a friend and acquaintance. Because of their schedules, I never had the chance…

In the months and weeks leading up to last week’s stopover in SP, the universe (call it what you will) was transmitting messages to me about this eventuality, and I was just filing them away. Then, in Singapore and also since my return to Bali, that sense has remained front & center; appearing in various guises, tapping me on the shoulder at the strangest moments; concocting serendipitous meetings with strangers who have lived in SP, are now living there, are working in corporate offices (and here in Ubud on vacation), and much more; with such regularity that it bears mention, bears paying closer attention.

So I will put it out there in the world, to my creative spirits & souls, and ask: what is it about Singapore that I am being called on to share the creative process in that place above all others?

…and the water flowed…

Standard

Yet another small group gathered over the weekend to participate in a playful workshop; bursting with life, color, succulent writing and insight. We were only occasionally interrupted by sounds of motorbikes and a mud-mixing machine in the nearby rice field. Otherwise, a peaceful and heart-opening time was had by all 🙂

Thank you all for joining in such a fluid creative process – from Ubud, Nyuh Kuning and Sanur!

Butterfly Bridge Arts will be on hiatus for a couple of months.. stay tuned for upcoming work/playshops!

Sure, we drink spring (or holy) water from a well. But do we know how to ‘drink’ creatively from the well of love, beauty, compassion, joy, laughter, sorrow and pain? How do we nourish ourselves from the bounty of wellness that beckons?Come and explore and uncover the treasures that lie deep inside each of us. If we dig and search, contemplate, share and use our imagination, there is a vast landscape waiting to be discovered within ourselves.

This creativity workshop will combine elements of writing, movement, meditation, visualization and hands-on art project(s). No previous arts-related experience is required! All you need is a desire to join others in releasing your creative spirit, to find an expressive outlet for yourself.

Donation (suggested 50-100k) will be appreciated to cover the cost of provided materials. .. feel free to bring your own as well, to spark your creative juices – natural or recycled are best.

Opening Your (He)Art

Standard

Another wonderful play/workshop at Villa Sawah on the outskirts of Ubud yesterday!

Once again, the afternoon was filled with a smorgasbord of creativity: writing haikus, stretching our bodies, body poetry (making lines and circles in the air), guided imagery and a hands-on heart-opening art project.

A smaller group opened up more space for breathing and movement, and more time to share.

Teri-makasih (thanks) to the participants, and looking forward to the next gathering!

Creative Detox!

Standard

Last Sunday (the last day of July!), we held a wonderful workshop – playshop, really! – in the midst of rice fields, on the outskirts of Ubud. The afternoon unfolded slowly, with people showing up here and there…until we were a dozen playful souls, dipping in, breathing in and out of our creativity.

There was a full slate of activities to get our minds and bodies moving: cathartic writing & releasing thoughts into the ‘sea’ (ie. sending banana leaf boats afloat into Felice’s pool); shaking out our bodies in the garden; toothpaste-tube mime; visualizing the emptied insides of our bodies; popcorn kernels popping or unfolding in the pits of our stomach; hands-on art projects – including the grande finale, creating crowns from coconut and banana leaves, marigolds and other flowers, all of which involved some kookiness and an abundance of laughter and joy.

Thanks to all who participated. We look forward to another day of fruitful, playful, detoxifying & nourishing creativity! Stay tuned…

Upcoming in Ubud…

Standard

Stay tuned for news about creative arts work-&-playshops on the Island of the Gods, Bali!

First up, Ubud: Join us for a day among the coconut palms, banana and frangipani trees, rice paddies and kites swaying in the sky.

It’s not about learning the art or art, of writing or dance; nor is it about making the best ‘anything.’ It’s about observing, breathing, paying attention, and letting your body tap into your creative core. Above all, it’s about reminding yourself that you were once playful – and can be so again.

Details to follow!

Namaste,

Amit
